The German
Hefeweizen

Bavarian Heritage,
Slow Brewed for Four Weeks

A sparkling delight of a beer with a thick snow-white collar of foam at the top. If looking for ultimate refreshment this Bavarian beer is perfect, and has pure brewing flavours such as banana, freshly podded vanilla and candyfloss. In German “Hefe” means yeast and “weizen” means wheat, so it should be no surprise that this beer style is wonderfully yeasty and wheaty in character.

Zötler is a traditional, family-owned brewery for generations, located in the beautiful German region of The Allgäu and with Bavarian brewing heritage at its heart. In 2018, Niklas Zötler took over the private brewery from his father as managing partner. Since then, he has expanded the range of beers (now they brew 22 products) whilst also introducing “Slow Brewing”. This is a certification, on top of the Reinheitsgebot Purity Law, that takes beer quality to another level. All beers are stored for an additional three to eight weeks, depending on the style of beer. During this time the beer matures and fusel alcohols and undesirable fermentation by products are broken down. Leaving a cleaner, high-quality beer, ready to be enjoyed.

Sommelier Tasting Note

Pour this beer nice and slowly because it’s lively, as it should be, and the incredible “Slow Brew” process applied by Zötler is something to savour. Once in the glass the beer looks like a light yellow cloud. The yeast flavours developing in this beer are natural, giving way to freshly baked bread and ripe banana, followed by candy floss and fresh pine.
